Not from anything but my imagination. Its a drawing in a section in my book thats about showing character and attitude from all angles, w/o the assistance of facial expression. From a character standpoint, the real attitude and story is in the body and facial expression is secondary...if the pose is strong enough it should communicate the story from any angle.
the body language and gesture tells everything, here! Especially how strongly the horse is bracing his back legs- he definitely smells something suspicious!
